Description: Prostrate herbaceous perennial, with dense shining tomentum (hairs less than 0.5 mm) and creeping underground stems. Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate, obtuse or acute, base cordate, undulate, broadly crenate to dentate. Flowers axillary, solitary or in 2-4-flowered cymes. Outer sepals ovate, apiculate, densely tomentose. Corolla pink to light purple, 25-35 mm. Ovary usually hairy at apex.
Biology: Flowers are blooming from April to August.
Habitat: Pinus woods, open steppe, stony slopes, meadows, cultivated and fallow fields, usually calcareous, 880-2000 m.
Distribution: Endemic plant of Turkey, of Inner & rarely North Anatolia (Amasya, Ankara, Bolu, Burdur, Çoruh, Denizli, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Gümüşane, Kayseri, Konya, Kütahya, Malatya, Mardin, Niğde, Şanlıurfa, Tunceli, Van, Zonguldak). Endemic. lr.-Tur. element.
Uses: Flowers of C. galaticus are locally used in infusion (gargle) against toothache.
