Description: Forewings dark grey, with 6 deep red spots with a white border. The wingspan is 30–35 mm.
Biology: Adults are on wing from July to August. They are active during the day. This species is noted for its late afternoon aggregations.
Adults feed on the nectar of flowers in the Fabaceae family. The larva lives on Anthyllis, Dorycnium, Lotus or Onobrychis.
Distribution: From Europe, except northern Scandinavia, Western Asia to Iran. Very rare in Belgium.
