Endemic species (Balkan)

Mount Olympus, PIERIA ● Greece

Description: Perennial herbaceous plant. The flowering stems is 10–20 cm high, erect, glabrous, with a basal leaf rosette. The cauline leaves are alternate, linear to spathulate, glabrous, with 2 stipulate glands at base. The inflorescence is terminal, with 2–15 flowers. The 5 petals are obovate, light yellow, 15–20 mm long, twice as long as the sepals. The capsule is globose, 4–5 mm.

Biology: Flowering in June-July. Reproduction by vegetative means and seeds.

Habitat: Mountain slopes, on dry, rocky and gravely places, preferably on limestone, up to 2500 m. Populations are with low numbers of individuals.

Distribution: South Western Balkan Peninsula (Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Fyrom, Montenegro, Serbia).
