Description: The length varies from 10 to 15 mm. The female has 2 “horns” on the clypeus. The male has whitish hair on the mouth and longer antennae.
Biology:Adults are on wing from March to June. This early spring bee is a very effective pollinating agent of fruit trees in Europe.
Males can be seen on early March, waiting for the females in front of their wholes. After mating, the females made nests in galleries of 8 to 10 mm large and lay eggs.
Distribution: It is found in southern and central Europe, north to Belgium and the southern parts of the Netherlands.
