Mylabris calida Pallas, 1784 ♀♂ ♥

Sariveliler, KARAMAN ● Turkey

Description: The Meloidae, commonly known as blister beetles, comprise approximately 120 genera and 3000 species, which are widely distributed throughout most regions of the world, especially favouring warmer and drier climates. The group is of general interest because of its distinct form of metamorphosis, parasitoid habits and defensive behaviour linked to cantharidin production. Until now, 147 species of 17 genera belonged to two subfamilies of Meloidae were reported in Turkey.

Distribution: Turano-Mediterranean species, distributed in central Asia, Caucasus and Transcaucasia, southern Balkan Peninsula, Near East, Levant and Arabian Peninsula, northern Africa.
