Description: The genus Heteralonia Bezzi belongs to the tribe Exoprosopini of subfamily Anthracinae. It is easily be differentiated from Exoprosopa Macquart by the following features: wing pattern with veins bordered with a different colour to centres of cells, frequently with isolated spots; ejaculatory apodeme of male weak, concealed between gonocoxites. The genus Heteralonia includes 128 known species, of which 29 species are from the Palaearctic Region and 27 species are from the Oriental Region (Evenhuis and Greathead, 1999).
Distribution: Southern Europe, Northern and Tropical Africa, Western Asia, Middle East.
